On December 21st, 2010, (the early morning hours of the winter solstice),
Northern America was privileged to witness a full lunar eclipse,
that of which hasn't taken place on the winter solstice since December 21st, 1638.
Another lunar eclipse on the winter solstice will not happen again 'til the year 2094.
Yours truly was there to photograph the event.
In the spring of 2010, I became a volunteer at a local observatory in NJ.
My trainer is a NASA ambassador who has taught me to operate a $150,000.00 telescope.
In addition the staff hired me to take photographs of celestial objects in the sky.
That will include planets, nebulas, stars and the such.
Photographing the lunar eclipse of 2010 was my first assignment for the observatory.
My photos premiered on a local cable news program and will be used in the future for the
observatories students and classes on space exploration.

It was a slow, hot summer. As a result I closed down the studio from mid June ‘til late September.

This painting was a wedding gift for 2 friends of mine: Sarabeth & Charles Burns. Although the photgraph of the painting is not that great,
it still gives you a general idea of the subjects and images within. The red paint kept making it difficult to get a decent picture of the painting. This untitled piece
was made using enamel paint on an intentionally broken piece of flat, press board wood. It was completed in 2006, by yours truly. In the bottom,
left hand corner, a photograph depicts an image of the two people for whom the painting was created for. Please click on the image to enlarge.

These photos depict me at work on this very large graphite pencil drawing that I've been working on for quite some time now.
In one of the shots, you will notice my cockatoo Captain in the shot with me. He was giving me advice on how to finish the drawing.
I tried to get him to smile for the camera, but he's so serious sometimes.

The other painting below is one of the many watercolor paintings I've been doing in an approach to practicing my hand at
working in the medium of watercolor paints. Since watercolor was never a style/paint that I worked with in my past, I'm
taking the opportunity to paint as many pieces as I can using them to enhance my creations with that type of paint. As you
can see, this image is of a tropical fish that I chose to use as a subject. Taking into consideration that this painting is
still not yet completed, I nevertheless feel that it is one of the better pieces I've done using watercolor so far.

Finally, the last of the photos are of an Apocalyptic assemblage sculpture that I completed specifically for the Halloween art show,
(see LATEST FEATURES link for photos). This piece contains: 2 pig skulls, 4 pig jaws, 1 coyote skull, 1 deer skull cap antler stubs,
1 Madagascar flying lizard & 1 Madagascar chameleon, 2 pheasant claws, crow feathers, sheep jaw, coyote jaws, 3 doll heads, 2 full
grown deer ribs, 2 horseshoe crab shells and lots of foliage. This piece is entitled: "Of Ritual Decor" and will be going to Freddy,
who is the owner of Dingbats club & Dingo's Den in Clifton, NJ. (He is also the man who provided me with the pig skulls and pig jaw bones to complete the piece).

It was obvious by the likes of these drawings that I didn’t go forward in the direction of mechanical drafting, or designing buildings for a living. Although maybe I wouldn’t be as poor as I am right now if I did…. Hmmmm…. Too late now. Instead I leaned more towards the creation of monsters and all that is creepy. It was in my blood from the sweet young age of 5. Destin to conjure up dark images, fantastic places and things not of this world. And here we are today, 36 years later… I guess I haven’t changed a bit. Except back then, mom and dad were paying for everything. Enjoy. MCMZ1 |
